1. Contact Information

2. Client Responsibility:

  1. Remaining session fee balance + tax (due on the day of the session), which will be sent through an invoice.
  2. Travel fee (if applicable, due on the day of the session)
  3. Booking a studio (if applicable)
  4. Choosing a location & notifying Photos by Schye at least a week prior to the session date.
  5. Filling out the questionnaire, which I will text/email to you sometime before the session to be thinking about. You will need to answer the questions and send it back to me sometime before the session.
  6. Reading & signing the contract prior to the start of your session. This will be emailed to you sometime before the session at the same time as the invoice, after you've notified Photos By Schye of your chosen location.  If for whatever reason you have not received the contract by the day before your session, please reach out. Also, if you see just the invoice but not the contract, check spam as contracts will sometimes go there.

3. Miscellaneous Information

  • I do my best to notice things out of place, phones or keys in pockets, keys on belt loops, etc. Even if your phone is in a back pocket, it will show up. Because it is impossible for me to see everything the entire time, I would recommend bringing a bag for cell phones and other items. Also keep in mind that once you take everything out of your pockets, do not put them back in your pockets midway through the session.
  • When there is snow, it doesn’t hurt to bring boots you can walk in and then change out of during the session. This will be especially helpful with shoes without traction.
  • Avoid chewing gum during your session. Just like items in pockets, it is guaranteed to show up in your pictures.
  • Make sure to notify me of any special accommodations or special circumstances in which I need to be aware of.
  • If you are going to use confetti, make sure to purchase biodegradable confetti.

4. Time of Day to Start Your Session

Outdoors:

Morning - starting as close to sunrise as possible

Afternoon - ending around 60 minutes prior to sunset

(Specifics on time depend on your chosen location)

Indoors:

Between 9:30 am – 3:00 pm (**for newborns/extended family however, 1 pm is the latest I will start)

These guidelines are for best even lighting and the look I strive to achieve. Scheduling outdoor sessions later in the morning or earlier in the afternoon provides a different look with harsher lighting.

5. Travel Fees

Travel Information:

Travel fees are required for locations 20 miles+ (round trip) and are based on the federal going rate of 65.5 cents per mile. The first 20 miles however, are free.

Example: 25 miles-20 miles x 0.655 = $3.28

You can find out what your travel fee will be based off of this address:

Orem, Utah 84059

I cannot stress this enough - please only schedule your type of session within the set time frame (which is listed above) when you book your studio session, as I only do indoor sessions within a certain time frame.

Sessions with Children

Always come to your session with the expectation that your young kids are not going cooperate how you imagine - especially for the entire session. That is VERY normal and happens with every family. Plus, being a mother myself, I am a huge advocate of capturing the kids exactly how they are playing, looking at me, etc. When it comes down to it, looking at me and smiling at the camera is just a fraction of how I like to go about sessions. So how can you prepare?

  • Bring lots of snacks!
  • Bubbles, or other toys
  • A blanket and jacket/coat (especially during the cold months of the year)
  • Plan on arriving a few minutes early to change your kids into the clothes they will wear. This takes the stress out of any possibility of spills happening while on the drive.
  • Do your best to relax and not stress about this, as you definitely are not the only parent who worries about this. 😉

Newborn Sessions

  • Depending on the type of session you chose, it can range from 1 hour to 2 – 2.5 hours. If you’re on the fence about doing family pictures, just remember they are included in both, and I think you will look back and be happy you chose to be in them!
  • In order to make the most out of our time together, do the best you can to make sure your baby is fed about 20-30 minutes prior to the start of your session.
  • Do your best to time your baby’s nap to be during the session by keeping your baby awake 1-2 hours prior to leaving.
  • If you would like, bring a favorite blanket and/or outfit to take pictures in! Parents with a girl, bring your favorite bows!
  • If your session is at a studio, remember to bring your diaper bag with diapers, wipes and a bottle if needed, etc. Certain studios (such as the Wild Willow Studio) provide diapers and wipes, however not all do.
  • If you would like to review what is included in the Newborn Session you chose, go to the "Investment" Tab.
